The purpose of the A&S Student Ambassadors is to promote pride in a liberal arts education and to assist in strengthening the identity of both the College of Arts & Sciences and the University of Kentucky. As part of their service, the Ambassadors participate in a wide variety of College events and activities.
The College of Arts & Sciences initiated its first Student Ambassador Program in the Fall of 1999. The purpose of this highly selective group of A&S students is to promote pride in a liberal arts education and to assist in strengthening the identity of both the College of Arts & Sciences and the University of Kentucky. The A&S Ambassadors develop leadership and communication skills while representing the College to visitors, alumni, and prospective and current students.

Qualifications
Qualified applicants must be full-time undergraduate students (enrolled in at least 12 hours) with a major in the College of Arts & Sciences. At least 24 credit hours at the University of Kentucky Campus must be earned by the end of the 2008 spring semester, with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00. Qualified applicants must possess a positive attitude with a commitment to learning more about the College of Arts and Sciences.
Selection Process
Completed applications are reviewed by an Arts & Sciences Committee with emphasis on: desire to convey pride in the College of Arts & Sciences; effective oral and written communication skills; interest and involvement in campus activities; and willingness to commit time and energy to the program. The top candidates will be invited for individual interviews with the Committee. Final selections will be made after the interviews have been completed.
Training/Meetings
Training is provided; bi-weekly meetings are required and e held on Thursdays from 3:30 PM – 5:00 PM in 245 POT. A student is expected to adjust his/her schedule so there are no conflicts – attendance at the training session and at bi-weekly meetings is mandatory.
Length of Service
Ambassadors serve for one year, as long as they are actively enrolled as full-time (at least 12 hours) undergraduates in the College, and maintain a 3.00 cumulative GPA. Current ambassadors are encouraged to reapply each year, and will be given first consideration.

Activities
- Participation in UK Preview Nights, Fall Orientation activities, Merit Days, Career Fairs, receptions for all new students
- Host visiting high school counselors, students, and parents
- Greet students and assist staff in the Advising Center office during peak times
- Play a major role in the planning and implementation of College of Arts & Sciences Week
- Participate in alumni meetings, receptions, Advisory Board activities, and other events deemed appropriate by the Dean of the College
- Make telephone calls to prospective and newly registered students
- Assist in the compilation and distribution of the Ambassador Newsletter
- Group coordination of a College-wide service project
