Welcome to the Department of Earth & Environment Sciences in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Kentucky.
The Department of Earth & Environment Sciences offers major and minor work in the field of geology. A bachelor's degree is offered in the topical major of environmental sciences. Most undergraduate students interested in pursuing a profession in geology or who want to attend graduate school will pursue a Bachelor of Science. Bachelor of Arts students often pursue areas in education, government, policy, or law. The graduate program offers Master of Science and Ph.D. degrees within geology in such areas as tectonics, hydrogeology, sedimentary geology, geochemistry, petrology, and geophysics.
